Usable space is calculated the way a computer reports it: the labeled capacity is decimal, the operating system displays binary, and formatting reserves a small amount for the file system. File counts are examples only — they are not a guarantee of how many files will fit.

Example basis: PDF / document 5MB per file · photo 8MB per file · 10-minute 1080p video 1.5GB per file. Mixed content changes every count, so treat these as scale references, not fixed quantities.
Ordering note: 1GB to 512GB is standard production. Above 512GB, including 1TB, depends on flash memory supply for that period — confirm before the sample is made, not after.
Connector choice is separate from capacity: Type-C and USB-A shells can be built at the same capacity.

Labeled vs usable
Why a 32GB USB does not show exactly 32GB
Drives are labeled using decimal calculation, while computers usually display capacity in binary units, and formatting reserves a small amount for the file system. This is normal across all storage products, and it is worth explaining clearly when you order branded USB drives for customers or employees.
The flash memory chip inside the shell — the part that decides real capacity.
Every unit is read/write and capacity tested before packing, which is how fake-capacity chips are caught.
Decimal label, binary display
A drive sold as 32GB holds 32,000,000,000 bytes. A computer counts 1,024 bytes as a kilobyte, so the same drive shows as roughly 29.8GB. Nothing is missing — the two sides use different units.
Formatting and file system
Formatting writes a file allocation table and reserves space for system structures. The larger the drive, the more is reserved, which is why the visible gap grows with capacity.
Preloaded content
If we preload a brochure, video or software set, that content already occupies space before the recipient opens the drive. Confirm the final file size before sampling so the free space matches expectations.
The check you can repeat yourself: 32GB × 109 bytes ÷ 10243 =

Short answers to what buyers ask most often before a capacity is locked into the sample. Anything specific to your project, send it over — we reply with capacity, unit price and sample timing.
16GB and 32GB are usually the best choices for branded business gifts because they offer useful storage without pushing the unit price too high.
USB 2.0 is often enough for simple promotional files. Choose USB 3.0 when buyers need faster transfer speed, larger files, video, or premium storage. For 64GB and above, USB 3.0 is generally recommended because it significantly reduces file transfer time.
Yes. We can preload brochures, presentations, training files, videos, software installers and other materials before shipping.
Yes. Only the internal flash chips are swapped, while the shell shape, size, logo engraving and surface printing remain unchanged. We can label capacities separately on packages for easy identification at the event or in the warehouse.
Yes, drives of different capacities can be mixed in the same order. Each unit is clearly labeled so the capacity is identifiable before distribution.
Capacity changes are possible before mass production begins. Once flash memory chips are installed and testing has started, changing capacity requires replacing the internal components, which may affect pricing and lead time.
Every drive is manufactured using genuine-grade flash memory and undergoes 100% capacity verification before shipment. We do not use upgraded or fake-capacity chips. Our suppliers are held to the same inspection standard across capacity testing, read/write speed verification and aging tests.
